How the Orchestra Started

The Village Chamber Orchestra Program was founded in August of 2025 to help Viking Musicians enhance their musical abilities through rehearsals and performances

The program has grown into a community of musicians who support each other, perform together, and discover what makes chamber music special: the intimacy, the teamwork, and the thrill of creating something beautiful as a group.

Our Approach to Chamber Music

Student-Led
Rehearsals

Students take ownership of musical decisions during rehearsals. Tim coaches and guides, but the ensemble makes choices together about phrasing, dynamics, and interpretation.

Collaboration Over Competition

We're not interested in rankings or who's the best player. Success here means listening closely, adapting to your section, and helping each other improve. Chamber music is about partnership, and that's what we practice every rehearsal.

Beginner-Friendly,
Growth-Focused

No minimum skill requirements. If you're willing to show up, work hard, and support your fellow musicians, you belong here. We meet you where you are and help you grow from there.

Common Questions About the Program

  • Chamber music involves smaller ensembles (usually 3-10 players) where each musician plays a unique part. Chamber musicians collaborate directly, making musical decisions together and relying on close listening and communication.

  • Not at all. Many of our members had never played chamber music before joining. We'll teach you the skills you need, how to listen, communicate, and blend with your section.

  • We practice during Friday Club times every single week as well as from 3:30 to 4:30 PM in the same day
