How the Viking Chamber Started
The Village Chamber Orchestra Program was founded in August 2025 by Zitian Qiao (Tim) to share and showcase Village School students’ passion and dedication to music.
Our program gives back to the community by performing for elementary school students during Character Day, inspiring young musicians through our instrument mentoring program, and performing at Jones Hall, our New Year Celebration, and Houston’s Missing Center Gala.

Common Questions About the Program
-
Chamber music is performed in small groups, usually with 3–10 musicians, where each player has their own unique part. Because of the smaller ensemble, musicians work closely together, listening and communicating with one another to shape the music as a team.
-
Joining our Chamber Orchestra does require a strong level of skill and experience with your instrument. But don’t worry — if you’re looking to improve, our mentor program is here to help you grow as a musician!
-
We practice during Friday Club times every single week from 2:30-4:30 PM.
